The Consortium of Prosciutto di Parma returns to the Summer Fancy Food Show, the largest specialty food industry trade event, to be held in New York on June 25-27; it will attend together with Grana Padano, Montasio, and San Daniele, thanks to the Legends from Europe project, co-financed by the European Union and the Italian government.  

The project, about to complete its final year, aims to promote the four Italian PDOs in the USA through an intensive plan of promotional activities and the use of all communication channels. In addition to participation in great trade show events, the project also involves collaborations with famous American chefs, TV program sponsorships, a comprehensive website, ads in the specialist press, promotions and tastings in retail outlets, training workshops for operators, and public relation activities with the press and local influencers.

 

This project has provided us with many opportunities and rewards - said Vittorio Capanna, President of the Consortium of Prosciutto di Parma. Thanks to our gastronomic excellence and our joint efforts, we have been able to communicate the values of PDO production and to educate US consumers about these quality products.

Today the USA is our first market, with about 623,000 hams and a 7% growth recorded in 2016. We believe that this is the result of our constant commitment, with major investments in the promotion of our product, protection of our brand, and compliance with the required procedures and health guarantees.

 

Prosciutto di Parma will have its own exhibition area in the Italian pavilion in order to welcome producers and operators in the sector.
