Nutritional Info
As Antonio Carluccio pointed out in his book 'Carluccio's Complete Italian Food', 'prosciutto is actually a much healthier food than it might at first seem, with its perfect balance of proteins, fats, low cholesterol and an abundance of vitamins and trace elements.' With such an excellent flavour it is often easy to forget that Parma Ham has many nutritional qualities too. A completely natural food, nothing is added to Parma Ham except salt and much of the saturated fats in the hams turn into unsaturated during the curing process. It also has a high percentage of oleic acids - the main component of olive oil. Parma Ham is ideal for those following a low calorie diet. Not many people realise that with all visible fat removed 100g of Parma Ham contains just 3.5g of fat - lower than turkey breast! The nutritional qualities of Parma Ham and its delicious taste make it an excellent food for everyone young and old. The presence of free amino acids and its easy digestibility make Parma Ham an ideal food for athletes.
