Parma Ham Festival Press Trip

19th-20th September 2009

A press trip was organised to coincide with the last weekend of the Parma Ham Festival on 19th and 20th September.  The Festival was a celebration of Parma Ham, the area and the people of the region. 

The trip was a lively combination of activities including a charity auction for Abruzzo earthquake victims where the best aged Parma Hams were put up for auction in the main square and a charity dinner for 1,000 people. The journalists were treated to a special lunch and welcomed by the president of the Parma Ham Consortium, Paolo Tanara, visited Parma Ham production in Langhirano and enjoyed a cooking demonstration in a traditional trattoria.


The journalists who attended the weekend were Lindy Wildsmith, who is currently writing her new recipe book, ‘Cured’, Mitzie Wilson who writes for the Daily Mail and Tesco and was previously editor of Delicious, Rowley Leigh who writes a weekly column in the Financial Times and chef proprietor of Le Café Anglais, and Alex Mackay who was Guild of Food Writers Cookery Journalist of the Year in 2006 and has been a chef on Ready Steady Cook for several years.
