EU approves promotion campaign in Japan
21.11.2007
Parma, 21 November 2007 - The European Commission has just approved a new promotion campaign that will see Prosciutto di Parma, Parmigiano-Reggiano and Porto play leading roles in Japan. This is the only Italian project that involves products from other countries, namely Portugal. The program will include a combination of informative and promotional events and will last for 3 years. It was created from a desire to promote the value of geographical indicators outside of Europe. "We are extremely satisfied," said Stefano Tedeschi, chairman of the Parma Ham Consortium. "We would like to thank Mipaaf and the European Commission for having recognized our efforts in wanting to give life to a project that wasn't just Italian, but also, and especially, European. Three excellent products: Parma Ham, Parmigiano-Reggiano Cheese and Porto unite to spread awareness and the qualities that form part of the European PDO system ". Prosciutto di Parma and Parmigiano-Reggiano have been involved in many different promotion campaigns, co-financed by Agea and the European Union in third markets. They are also currently involved in a 3-year project together in the USA.
