Mid-Year 2007: Parma Ham performing excellently abroad

Parma, 19 July 2007 – Prosciutto di Parma is performing excellently abroad. In the first six months of 2007 the companies making up the Consortium exported almost 17 million packets of pre-sliced prosciutto, increasing sales by 32% compared with the same period last year. Results for all markets have been positive. The most outstanding have been in the United Kingdom (up 46.3%, 6 million packets), France (up 17%, 3 million packets), Germany (up 25.4%, 2 million packets), Belgium (up 44.4%, 1.7 million packets) and the USA (up 42%, 700,000 packets). Export trends have also been good for the traditional product on the major markets outside Europe: the United States, Canada and Japan. In these three markets sales have increased by around 40,000 units, including around 9,000 of the pre-sliced product.
