Preparations underway for the 10th Parma Ham Festival
02.07.07
Parma, 2 July 2007 - Preparations are underway for the Prosciutto Festival. The tenth Prosciutto di Parma Festival will take place over four separate weekends in September, and will involve the 12 municipalities of the Parma hills belonging to Parma Ham's traditional production zone. As usual, the main event of the Festival will be the Finestre aperte ("Open Windows") project, which will involve the entire production zone. The prosciutto factories taking part in the project will be open to the public: guided tours and free tastings will be held within these hallowed halls to illustrate the stages by which, in a magical combination of climate, tradition and passion, the pork haunches become Parma Hams. This is also an opportunity to visit the Prosciutto Museum situated in the ancient Forum Boarium in Langhirano. Right in the home of Prosciutto di Parma, you can follow the history of the art of preserving pork, discovering secrets that have been guarded and handed down to the present day. The Festival programme will be available online shortly: www.festivaldelprosciuttodiparma.com.
