New pre-sliced packet launched
08.11.06
The Parma Ham Consortium has launched its new pre-sliced packet. The use of the "black triangle" containing the Consortium's logo and legal wording has been approved, while a general 'restyling' of the packet has been carried out aimed at increasing visibility on the shelves. The ducal crown is much more noticeable and the PDO logo is now also present on the packet. By doing this, the Consortium aims to stand out from its competitors, highlighting the differences compared to unbranded products. The Board of Directors approved the new design in July and producers have a year in which to clear the old-labelled stock. The pre-sliced Parma Ham market is in continuous growth. In the first 9 months of 2006, total growth was 28%: in Italy, producers sold more than 850,000kg of product (+33%), while approximately 2.2 million kilos of ham (+26%) were sold abroad. Great Britain, France, Germany and America are the best customers although the trend is positive throughout the world. "We are very pleased with these 9-month results - said Stefano Tedeschi, president of the Parma Ham Consortium - Parma Ham in trays continues to rise and represents almost 30% of our exported product. The results are excellent and are growing steadily. Last year, Consortium companies sold 32 million packets of pre-sliced product and sales have doubled over the last 5 years".
