A New Board of Directors for the Parma Ham Consortium
16.04.2005
The Parma Ham Consortium has nominated its new Board of Directors. The new Board will be in charge of a group that has a consumer turnover of 1,500 million euro and is made up of 5,386 pig breeding farms, 139 abattoirs and approx. 3,000 processing workers just in the province of Parma alone. The elections were held according to the new statutory regulations approved by MIPAF (Italy's Ministry of Agriculture) last December. The reforms to the Parma Ham Consortium's statute were required by the implementing decrees of Italian Law No.526/99, promulgated in order to ensure equal representation throughout the production line regarding the composition of members within the various Consortiums guaranteeing protection. The two challenging candidate lists for new members of the Board of Directors for the period 2005-2008 each proposed 20 candidates. The winners, reported below, were elected via a vote allocation system subdivided by class, proportional to the total produced: 1) Agnetti Renzo 2) Barazzoni Nino 3) Beretta Alberto 4) Boschi Umberto 5) Caffagni Guido 6) Carretta Romano 7) Fontana Pier Arnaldo 8) Galloni Carlo 9) Grassi Paolo 10) Gualerzi Pier Luigi 11) Larini Dante 12) Piazza Paolo 13) Sassi Emilio 14) Severi Alberto 15) Tanara Giorgio 16) Tanara Paolo 17) Tedeschi Stefano 18) Utini Alessandro The first meeting of the new Board of Directors will be held shortly to elect the new President and during this same meeting 3 directors will be nominated to represent the other production categories: breeding farms, abattoirs and packaging firms.
