The Consorzio del Prosciutto di Parma has undertaken is official partner and supplier to an important sporting event: the climbing of K2 and Everest on the 50th anniversary of the first climbing. The K2 2004 project includes an ambitious scientific research program and cooperation with the local population.. K2 2004 expedition is beginning in April with the climbing of Everest. K2 will be climbed in July Being a 100% natural, healthy and genuine product Prosciutto di Parma shall be part of the mountaineers' official diet. The Consorzio has supplied 40 kgs of Prosciutto di Parma for the expedition participants. Says Agostino Da Polenza, - head of the expedition, who will guide the mountaineers in their ascent,-“ at such high altitude and under stressful physical and psychological condtions anyone suffers from a kind of anorexia; Prosciutto di Parma is tasty and supplies the correct quantity of protein. Since it has a low percentage of fat, it is easily digestible in conditions where oxygen is scarce. Therefore we are really pleased that the Consorzio del Prosciutto di Parma has decided to accept this sponsorship”
